yesterday, we returned from our vacation on the outer banks. it was our first vacation alone as a family of four. adam and i were so surprised at how calm and relaxing the trip was. the kids were happy as clams the entire trip - even on the 7 hour car ride...and even with wells cutting her first tooth and max, his two-year molars - agghhh! we did our share of chilling out, but also enjoyed many activities together...visits to the pocosin wildlife refuge, the cape hatteras lighthouse, the beach, hatteras village, twice-daily bike (or as max says, "bite") rides, just to name a few. i am usually raring to get back from vacation, but was genuinely sad that it had to end. it was a special time for our family, and i am already thinking about where we can go next (disney world, anyone....ummmm, maybe we'll give that a few years!!!!).

awww...look at my little Shearer's:-) So sad we could nto make it work and join you. But it looks as though you had a lovely little first fam vacay..so it may have all worked out for the best. (Def want to see you this week. Yoga?) xo
