a.k.a., wellesley's first birthday!
guess what wellesley received for her first birthday? a nasty case of croup and a weekend hospital stay! who needs a birthday party??!
poor wells had to be hooked up to an iv and monitor all weekend. considering the miserable circumstances, i was amazed at what a little trooper she was. she barely fussed and acted like that big pink bandage on her hand was nothing!
the hospital staff was so wonderful. they said that wellesley's cancelled birthday party was the talk of the floor and they wanted to do something to make the day special. they brought her in a little cake and sang happy birthday.
wells has to try her hospital cake one-handed.
enough cake, mom. can we go home now?? wells responded wonderfully to the treatment and got the "all clear" from her doctor today (tuesday). we are so thankful that she is feeling better, and i am grateful that i got to spend so much one-on-one time with wells on her special weekend (even though it was in a hospital room!). happy birthday to the sweetest little girl in the whole wide world!!!
